Bridging the Gap Between Academia and the MedTech Industry

MedIT-HuB addresses a critical challenge facing European higher education: the growing disconnect between academic training and the rapidly evolving demands of the medical technology sector. With Europe facing a 1.7 million healthcare and IT workforce gap by 2030, and 80% of medical IT professionals lacking formal training in regulatory compliance, the need for structured, industry-aligned education has never been greater.

Our project develops and pilots a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in MedTech — a modular, 5 ECTS micro-credential covering AI-driven healthcare, cybersecurity, bioinformatics, and EU regulatory frameworks. Through a consortium spanning Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and China, MedIT-HuB creates a sustainable model for cross-border MedTech education.

What MedIT-HuB Aims to Achieve

1

Co-Design Higher Education Curricula

Develop an interdisciplinary, modular Medical IT training programme integrating research-based learning, case studies, and modular methodologies. Ensure ECTS alignment and recognition across the European Higher Education Area.

2

Pilot and Validate the MedTech BIP

Implement and test the Blended Intensive Programme through instructor training, virtual masterclasses, local MedTech classes, and the MedTech Solutions Award to validate the programme's real-world effectiveness.

3

Establish the MedTech Innovation Hub

Create a permanent industry-academia collaboration platform through the MedTech Innovation Hub to ensure long-term knowledge-sharing, networking, and scalability of the BIP across European institutions.

The MedTech Skills Gap is a European Challenge

Europe's digital health market is projected to reach $660 billion by 2025, yet the workforce is not keeping pace. MedIT-HuB directly addresses these structural gaps by integrating medical IT into higher education and fostering cross-border cooperation.
